8TH GRADE TRIP
The 8th grade class trip is a major project and involves extra work on everyone’s part. To defray the cost of the trip, the 8th graders can choose to be involved in several fundraising opportunities. Details about the fundraisers come each fall. We believe fundraising teaches how to earn their trip and feel a responsibility and ownership for the whole process.
The fundraisers we suggest are ones in which the students receive a fairly high profit margin. The kids can choose which ones they want to do (if any) to earn money toward their trip. The money earned is put into the St. Hubert 8th grade trip account. I keep a detailed record for each child of the amount earned from each fundraiser. Sometimes the money is put into a general fund and divided by all kids (i.e. Spirit Wear, Advent Calendars), but most of the time it’s divided by the kids who worked (i.e. Culver’s, Cub Bagging, selling nuts after Mass). Kids earn the most money by selling the product on their own during the fundraiser (Simply Nuts, Cookie Dough).
Food Perspectives
Earn money for yourself and help the 8th graders at the same time! Food Perspectives, a consumer food tasting organization, is offering St. Hubert families, their family members, neighbors and friends ages 18-65, a chance to earn $21-30 for themselves and $9 for the St. Hubert 8th grade trip for each taste test in which they participate. Just sign up online at www.fpitesters.com. Food Perspectives has a Fall Promotion! New members must sign up online between 9/1/09-10/31/09. The first time a new tester participates in a taste test, St. Hubert's will receive a $15 incentive, instead of the normal $10 incentive.
