Early Childhood: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Pre-K to Kindergarten (Ages 3-6)

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 will be offered at St. Hubert in the upcoming year. It is for children three years old through kindergarten. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a method of religious formation drawn from the Montessori form of education. This method is rooted in Sacred Scripture, the tradition, and the Liturgy. The religious values of contemplation, enjoyment of God, and personal relationship are fostered in the child in a prepared environment called the Atrium.

Visit our main Faith Formation page to register or sign up to volunteer.

Fee: $120

  • Wednesdays from 6:20-7:30 PM (Limited to 12 participants)

  • Sundays from 9:40-10:50 AM (Limited to 12 participants) – If your family attends the 10:30 AM Mass, your children will rejoin you in the Mass after the Liturgy of the Word.

If our registration hits maximum capacity, please contact the parish office at 952-934-9106 if you would like to be placed on a waitlist.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd relies heavily on volunteers because of the young age of the children and the hands-on experiences of the program. We are seeking additional catechists and room assistants to guide our youngest children as vessels of the Holy Spirit to grow in relationship with God in a contemplative faith learning environment. Training is provided for catechists; room assistants will have an orientation.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (Future Program)

In the past, this program has been offered at St. Hubert. It is an opportunity for our young children to hear the Liturgy of the Word at their level and do activities that help bring God’s Word to life for their young hearts and minds. Children attend Mass with their parents, and then before the Liturgy of the Word begins, our catechists will lead young children ages 4-6 to the fellowship hall for the Scripture and activities. They will return to the Mass when the Liturgy of the Eucharist begins.

We are seeking volunteer leaders and other volunteer assistants to help us make this program possible again! Please contact the parish office at 952-934-9106 to learn more about Children’s Liturgy of the Word and the volunteer opportunities.
