Coronavirus Updates

June 3 Update

Dispensation to End July 1 in Minnesota

As the pandemic subsides, and public gathering restrictions and safety protocols are lifted, it is time to gather as the Body of Christ once again. Therefore, the bishops and diocesan administrators of the Minnesota Catholic Conference have decided to reinstate the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation beginning the weekend of July 3-4, 2021.

Even after that time, there remains reasons why a Catholic have a dispensation from the Sunday obligation, including when he or she is ill or serving as caretaker for one who cannot attend Mass. The faithful who do not attend Mass in person are asked to find a Mass on TV, the radio or online and make a Spiritual Communion. Where that is not an option, it would be appropriate to pray the Liturgy of the Hours or the Rosary.

Read about this decision, and find examples of special circumstances when a dispensation would still apply, in recent letters fromArchbishop Hebda and the Minnesota bishops.

May 18 Update

In response to the recent guidance from the Archdiocese, CDC, and government officials, St. Hubert clergy and staff have reviewed and adjusted our Mass protocols.

Effective this evening, May 18, those who are fully vaccinated may attend daily or Sunday Masses, weddings, funerals, and visit the Adoration chapel at St. Hubert without wearing a mask. Those who are not fully vaccinated are strongly recommended to continue wearing a mask, per current CDC and State guidelines. In solidarity with the faithful who prefer more precautions or are higher risk, we ask all who attend the 5:15 PM Saturday Mass to still wear their masks.

Effective May 28, at the 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 6:00 PM Sunday Masses and all daily Masses, all pews will be open, and households will no longer need to be 6-feet apart. Again, in solidarity with the faithful who prefer more precautions or are higher risk, we will continue following social distancing protocols at the 5:15 PM Saturday Mass, including seating in every other pew and maintaining 6-feet between households, even after May 28.

Thank you for your continued cooperation, prayers, and support as we navigate these changes, and continue to evaluate our policies to ensure the safety of all.

November 23 Update

COVID-19 Update from the Pastor

Dear Friends in Christ,

As you know, COVID-19 cases in Minnesota are at a critical level. Our parish has been following the recommendations of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in responding to the current situation, and our role to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Now, more than ever, it is important for us to do our part to protect all who are impacted by this pandemic.

On Friday of last week, Archbishop Hebda sent a letter to all of the priests of the Archdiocese. Due to the surge in cases – including deaths and hospitalizations – he has asked us to pause, postpone or move virtually, all of our non-sacramental activities between now and Christmas. Out of love for our sisters and brothers and the common good, parish leadership has decided to pause or move virtually all events, meetings, and non-sacramental activities.

Most importantly, we will continue to celebrate the Mass both in-person and online. The dispensation from the Sunday Mass obligation continues, so if you are in an at-risk category (older than 65, have compromised health, etc.) you are encouraged to worship with us virtually.

We will also continue to offer Reconciliation on Thursdays at 6:30 PM outside Door 1 in the current drive-thru format, and Saturdays at 4:00 PM in the church. Reconciliation is also available by appointment.

Anointing of the Sick is also always available. Please call the parish office at 952-934-9106 if you need to reach a priest for this sacrament.

Remember to stay home if you are not feeling well or if you are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. We believe these small sacrifices are vital to minimizing the spread of the virus and to keep our parishes open for Mass, confessions, weddings, and other sacraments. Archbishop Hebda recorded a video message for you, the faithful, as well. You may watch HERE.

In Christ,

Fr. Rolf Tollefson
Pastor

October 20 Update

Effective the weekend of October 24, the Saturday 5:15 PM Mass will be held inside the church. Holy Communion will be distributed at the end of Mass during that Mass as an added safety precaution.

September 30 Update

Click Here for the St. Hubert Catholic Community COVID-19 Preparedness Plan.

September 24 Update: Communion within Mass beginning in October

Beginning on Sunday, October 4, the Distribution of Holy Communion will occur at the usual time within Mass for Sunday and daily Masses. Since permission was granted by the archdiocese in early September, clergy, staff, and ushers have been working together on a plan to keep everyone safe as we make this transition. Below are some visuals as to how this will work.

We will distribute Holy Communion to half of the sections in the church at a time. Once one of the sections is finished those distribution stations will move to the next section that are assigned to them.  This process was developed to reduce the amount of lines occupying each aisle.

Red Arrows signify the section and direction of the receiving lines for Holy Communion.

Blue Stars signify the Holy Communion Stations.

The top image highlights the first sections to receive Holy Communion. The bottom image highlights the second sections to receive.

The Saturday 5:15 PM Mass will remain a drive-in Mass for as long as the weather permits. Once we can no longer celebrate Mass outside, we will move the Saturday 5:15 PM Mass to within the Church. As an added factor of safety, when the 5:15 Mass moves inside the Church, the distribution of Holy Communion will occur at the end of Mass, in the way that we are currently doing it.

July 25 Update

While we are grateful that we can gather for Mass, Archbishop Hebda and our state officials encourage us to do so as safely as possible. Beginning Sunday, July 26, as a courtesy to others and for your own health and safety, Governor Walz is requiring all attendees over the age of five to wear a mask at Mass. Adorers and visitors to St. Hubert must also wear masks when in the building. We also ask that you wash or sanitize your hands when entering and leaving the church, and observe social distancing protocols. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe and healthy.

May 28 Update

Dear Parishioners,

We are so grateful to be celebrating Mass again in our worship space at St. Hubert. We have missed you! Thank you for your patience as we fine-tune our plans and policies to ensure we are following the new guidelines set by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in response to Governor Walz’s latest executive order on Tuesday. Please know that this plan may continue to be adjusted in the coming weeks.

The new order allows faith communities to accommodate up to 250 people for worship services, provided precautions are taken to protect public health. St. Hubert has developed our weekend liturgy plan, which includes some changes to the initial plan sent out Friday, May 22.

The Archbishop is continuing the suspension of the faithful’s obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. He also urges Catholics who are 65 and older or with medical conditions not to attend Mass at this time. If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 including shortness of breath, fever, or cough, you must not attend. We will continue live streaming the Sunday 8:30 AM Mass on YouTube and posting it on our website and Facebook for those who would like to watch later. Please know that if you attend the 8:30 AM Mass on Sunday, there is a chance you may be on the video posted publicly to Youtube, our website, and Facebook

We have been carefully preparing new protocols and procedures under the guidance of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis to ensure the safety of all parishioners, staff, and clergy. You will notice some changes as you return to St. Hubert for worship. We ask that you respectfully adhere to the changes as we work to care for one another during this pandemic. Below are some new procedures you will see when you return to Mass at St. Hubert:

Arrival and Seating

  • The Saturday 5:15 PM Mass will be a Drive-In Mass for those who desire to come together for worship, but feel more comfortable remaining in their vehicles. Restrooms will not be available for public use. Holy Communion will not be distributed at this Mass. Those who would like to receive Holy Communion who attend this Mass may call the parish office at 952-934-9106 for a private appointment. This Mass will be weather permitting. If canceled, we will communicate through Flocknote and Facebook by 2:30 PM on Saturday.

  • The 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 6:00 PM Sunday Masses will be in the church. We will be able to seat 200 in the church and 200 in the Fellowship Hall, for a total of 400 attendees per Sunday Mass. To ensure we stay within our capacity, we are using Sign-Up Genius for all Sunday Masses. Please CLICK HERE to sign up for the Mass you and your family plan to attend, including the number of attendees from your household. A new sign-up will be sent out through Flocknote each week, and you will need to sign up each week you plan to attend. Your initial sign up does not carry over to future weeks. There is no need to sign up for the Drive-In Mass on Saturday.

  • The Cry Room will not be open.

  • For Sunday Masses, you may enter through doors 1 or 8. For daily Mass, only door 1 will be open.

  • Please arrive no earlier than 20 minutes prior to the start of Mass. At Sunday Masses, ushers will guide you to where you may sit.

  • Please observe social distancing in pews. Certain pews will be closed; available pews will have markers every six feet to assist you in keeping the appropriate distance.

Sanitation

  • Staff and volunteers will clean and sanitize the church and common areas after each Mass.

  • Hand sanitizer dispensers are available in the narthex. Bring your own hand sanitizer from home if possible!

  • Please read and follow all posted signs concerning hand washing and sanitation steps.

Safety Precautions

  • We strongly urge all attendees over the age of two wear face masks that you bring from home.

  • Bulletins, hymnals, worship aids, and Mass cards will not be available for the time being to avoid contact points.

  • Please use the restroom at home before coming to Mass. Only the restroom in the narthex will be open for use. Children 10 years or under must be accompanied by a parent to the restroom to be sure they properly wash their hands and follow the posted sanitation steps.

Holy Communion

  • Holy Communion will be distributed following the 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 6:00 PM Masses as you exit. An usher will dismiss pews by row. If you choose to receive Holy Communion, you may receive in the back of the church as you leave. Directions for doing so will be announced at the end of Mass. Do not come back into the church. If you choose not to participate in Holy Communion, you may simply exit the church at that time.

  • We ask that you receive Holy Communion in the hand.

  • If you are wearing gloves, you must remove them before receiving Holy Communion.

  • We will only distribute the Precious Body of our Lord. If you need a low gluten host or can only receive the Precious Blood, please let a staff member know when you arrive.

Dismissal

  • At the end of Mass, please wait for an usher to dismiss you from your pew.

  • We ask you to leave promptly as the ushers dismiss you to avoid contact with others.

  • Please do not congregate in the narthex, hallways, or parking lot after Mass.

Other Mass Changes

  • Collections will be taken before and after Mass, with ushers stationed at the exits with baskets in which you can drop your donation, or CLICK HERE to simplify your giving by signing up to give electronically.

  • The baptismal font will be drained.

  • Do not hold hands with others outside your household during the Our Father.

  • We will not have congregational singing to minimize the spread of germs through the air. A cantor and keyboardist will provide limited music.

We are looking forward to celebrating with you again soon. We know these changes will take some adjusting, and we understand and appreciate that some may choose to continue worshiping at home due to the difficulty of new restrictions and protocols. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we do our part to keep you safe as we worship at St. Hubert.

May 24 Update

On Tuesday Governor Walz will issue a new executive order that will allow faith communities to accommodate up to 250 people for worship services, provided precautions are taken to protect public health. St. Hubert is evaluating our current plan for resuming Mass and making adjustments based on the new guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. We will send out a new communication through email, social media, and sthubert.org that will give details for our weekend Mass plans later this week.

Here are some changes to Friday’s communication that we are implementing in light of the agreement reached by Archbishop Hebda and Governor Walz.

  • We will resume daily Mass in the church on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 AM, not Tuesday, May 26.

  • We will limit attendance in the church to 250. (Both for daily and weekend Masses)

  • We strongly recommend all attendees over the age of two wear face masks brought from home. All ushers, greeters, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion will be required to wear face masks.

  • We ask that you receive Holy Communion in the hand. Click on the attachment for the recommendations for receiving Holy Communion.

With the return of public Masses, St. Hubert is implementing some additional protocols to keep our parish family safe. We are in need of additional ushers and volunteers to assist us before, during, and after Masses with various tasks including cleaning and set-up. Contact Brian Kloempken at brian.kloempken@sthubert.org to learn more!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adjust to the new guidelines presented as we welcome you back into the church for Mass. The safety and health of our parishioners, staff, and clergy is of utmost importance, and we appreciate your cooperation as we do our part to protect public health as we gather for worship.

April 18 Update

A Letter from Archbishop Hebda to the faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

In order to fulfill our precept of the Church, Archbishop Hebda has allowed for the private reception of Holy Communion by appointment once during the Easter season. St. Hubert parishioners can sign up for one appointment at St. Hubert HERE . Times may be subject to change, depending on clergy availability. When you sign up, indicate in the comment section the number of persons in your household who will come to receive Holy Communion. You do not need to note any from your household who are coming but not receiving Holy Communion (ex. small children).

Please note: we are able to receive Holy Communion in this way only once during the Easter season. These appointments are not meant to be large gatherings. We will distribute Holy Communion to those in your household only. If you have family members not living in your house, they should not be included in your appointment.

If you are in need of Confession before receiving Holy Communion, please come to one of our regular Confession times before your appointment to receive Holy Communion. Confessions are available Sundays 8-8:25 AM, Thursdays at 6:30 PM, and Saturdays at 4-5 PM.

If the weather is fair, we will gather in the Mary Garden. If there is rain, we will gather in the Adoration Chapel.  We have many appointments, and we want to minimize person-to-person contact as much as possible, so please arrive as close to your appointed time as possible. Remember to keep the one-hour Eucharistic fast before you arrive. Proper cleaning materials (hand sanitizer, cleaning bottles, etc.) will be available in whichever location we use, and clergy will wash their hands between every appointment. We will celebrate a brief liturgy, consisting of a Penitential Rite, Reading of the Word of God, the Lord's Prayer, Reception of Holy Communion, Prayer After Communion, and a Blessing. You are welcome to stay and pray briefly after the liturgy is completed; however, please be aware that others may be coming shortly after the liturgy has concluded.

If you are an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, at this time we are unable to give you the Blessed Sacrament to bring to others. This sign up is for those who are able to come to the St. Hubert building to receive Holy Communion. As we make phone calls to the elderly and homebound, we will set up appointments to bring Communion to them when possible. If you have a particular circumstance that prevents you from coming to the building to receive Communion, please call the parish office at 952-934-9106.

You should not attend if you or any of your household are exhibiting any COVID 19 symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath).

May the receiving of Our Lord in the Most Holy Eucharist bring you joy and consolation this Easter season!

  • Connecting with our Elderly Parishioners

In the midst of our current situation and all the changes it has brought to our faith community, we wanted to share the good news we have been receiving as well. Several staff members have been calling our older parishioners one by one (a list of 371 households) to check in with them and offer to help with getting groceries, medications, as well as offering to pray with them. We all agree that our community is very blessed with people who take care of each other! Almost all of the people we talk with have someone checking in on them, are able to get food and medicine, and feel like they have someone to talk with on a regular basis. Time and time again we are thanked for caring enough to call, and we receive offers to pray for others from the ones we are calling. We have a growing list of people who are offering to help other parishioners, yet haven’t found someone who needs the help! This is a blessed problem to have. Thank you, St. Hubert community, for taking such great care of each other. Keep reaching out by phone or video chat to your family members, neighbors, and friends. The sound of a human voice is so healing in this time of physical isolation. If you haven’t received a call from us yet but need help, please call the parish office at 952-934-9106.

  • Need Help?

We know that many in our community are severely impacted by the arrival of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 in Minnesota, whether financially, emotionally, spiritually, or physically. We want to help in any way we can. Please contact the parish office at 952-934-9106 or info@sthubert.org to let us know what your needs are.

Also, if you are seriously ill and in need of Confession or Anointing of the Sick, please contact the parish office at 952-934-9106; if after hours, dial 8 to be connected to Fr. Tollefson or Fr. Aric.

March 26 Updates

Sunday Worship

Although we are not able to worship together physically right now, we are praying for you and united in spirit. Fr. Tollefson and Fr. Aric are saying Mass privately and praying for your intentions each day.

Daily Masses are live-streamed on the St. Hubert Catholic Community Facebook page. Sunday 8:30 AM Masses are recorded in the church and then uploaded to YouTube and posted on our website and Facebook. We encourage you to subscribe to St. Hubert's YouTube Channel so you are notified when a Mass or other video is shared.

This Sunday's readings can be found here.
"I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will never die."

Visit the Mass Intentions page on the website to see who Mass is being offered for each day.

Stay connected with Our Lord as our priests strive to connect you with Him!

Drive-In Adoration Update

With the Stay-at-Home executive order going into effect Friday, we will not be able to hold another Drive-In Adoration event at this time. We were thrilled with the response and attendance March 22, and we pray we can do it again in the future.

Please be assured of our prayers and we look forward to connecting with you online for Mass!

Drive-Thru Confession

March 26 we held our first drive-thru Confession event! We will continue this way of Confessions at our regular Confession times - Thursdays at 6:30 PM, Saturdays from 4:00-5:00 PM, and Sundays from 8:00-8:25 AM - while social distancing standards remain in place. Here's how it works: When you come to Confession, come to the north parking lot. Ushers will greet you and give you directions on where to park and how the flow of cars will work. As you come to the “car confessional,” please pull up so that your window is next to the priest. Remain in your car, roll down your window, and then we will celebrate the sacrament as we normally would, except in your car. If you have multiple people in your car, the others will need to get out and go to the other “car confessional” to celebrate the sacrament or wait by the Adoration Chapel doors until you are finished with your Confession. After your Confession, remember to pray or do your penance when you return home. Be safe and healthy as you come to seek the mercy of God!

Need Help?

We know that many in our community are severely impacted by the arrival of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 in Minnesota, whether financially, emotionally, spiritually, or physically. We want to help in any way we can. Please contact the parish office at 952-934-9106 or info@sthubert.org to let us know what your needs are.

March 18 Update

Dear St. Hubert Parish Community,

We are saddened to inform you that effective immediately, all public celebrations of Mass are suspended in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis due to critical need to contain the COVID-19/Coronavirus. Please CLICK HERE to see the letter by Archbishop Bernard Hebda regarding this decision. St. Hubert Catholic Community will suspend all public Masses beginning tomorrow, March 19, for at least two weeks.

We know that this announcement brings much pain and sadness to you, and please know that our hearts are hurting alongside yours as we share this difficult news.

St. Hubert is committed to serving you in this unprecedented and difficult time, though it will look different. Fr. Tollefson and Fr. Aric will gratefully continue to celebrate daily and weekend Masses privately for any intentions that we have taken for that particular day (listed in the bulletin) and for an end to this health crisis. Opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will continue to be offered during regularly scheduled times: Thursdays at 6:30 PM, Saturdays, at 4:00 PM, and Sundays at 8:00 AM. In addition, our discipleship team is working on creating and facilitating virtual opportunities for community and faith formation.

For the time being, the Blessed Sacrament will remain available to pray with in the Adoration Chapel as we have had it this past week. We are considering opening additional opportunities for Adoration in the church in the near future.

During this time, it is ever important for you to continue to support St. Hubert Catholic Community financially, via Electronic Funds Transfer, an easy way to give without being physically present. Your contributions are essential to pay the electric and heating bills, the maintenance of our beautiful church, paying our staff, and serving our community, utilizing the technology we have available. Click Here to set up your donation. You may also send your donation through the mail to 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen, MN 55317.

Consider this an opportunity to draw closer to our Lord, especially as we experience a more intense longing for Jesus, present in the Eucharist. Please pray for all those who have died from COVID-19, and those who mourn them. Please pray for the ill, and those who care for them.

We are praying for you during this difficult time. Please contact the parish office at 952-934-9106 with any needs you may have, or email info@sthubert.org.

Sincerely,

Fr. Rolf Tollefson

March 16 Updates

School Closure

After consultations with the Archdiocese, St. Hubert Catholic School and Little Saints Preschool is closed beginning Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. This includes Buzz Club and all school-related events. While school is not in session, we will not have the 9:35 AM Mass on Wednesday mornings.

Day of Prayer and Fasting - March 18

Event Outline

As part of Archbishop Hebda’s call for a day of prayer and fasting, St. Hubert will have a time of Adoration in the church on Wednesday, March 18 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Fr. Tollefson and Fr. Aric will both be available for Confession, as well as to talk or pray with people as is needed. They may also give sermons during that time. This will be a time for people to come and be with Jesus in Adoration, and to pray and rest in the quiet. Please feel free to come at any time during the evening - we encourage people to stagger their attendance to limit the number of people present at one time. We also ask that you spread out in the church to limit the spread of germs. Please use prudence when deciding whether to come, and if you are having any symptoms, please feel free to have your own quiet prayer at your home.

Reconciliation Service is Cancelled, Confession Available

The Reconciliation Service scheduled for this Thursday, March 19 has been cancelled. Instead, Fr. Tollefson and Fr. Aric will both be available for Confession beginning at 6:30 PM.

Holy Communion

For the time being, Holy Communion will only be distributed in the hand. Click Here for Fr. Aric’s Recommendations for receiving in the hand.

March 14 Updates

Adoration Chapel

The Archbishop has granted St. Hubert dispensation to have the Blessed Sacrament reserved in a second tabernacle during this time of caution with the coronavirus. This is special permission as Canon Law states that a church can only habitually reserve the Holy Eucharist in one tabernacle within a church. Due to the special circumstances, the Archbishop is allowing us to use a second tabernacle during this time.

What does this mean for you?

You now have access to pray before the Blessed Sacrament within the Adoration Chapel at any time, regardless if the church is locked. Because the Blessed Sacrament is within a tabernacle, adorers do not need to be present at all times. Therefore, adorers are not required to come at their scheduled time slot. The requirement to have an adorer present at every hour is only when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the monstrance, not when it is reserved a tabernacle.

The tabernacle will be locked, so no one will be able to access the Holy Eucharist inside. We ask that you use prudence if you decide to come and pray with Our Lord so if you are sick, please stay home and get well first before coming back to the chapel.

Hand sanitizer can be found at the entrance of the chapel for individuals to use. Also, please keep the chapel a quiet place for prayer, even though the Blessed Sacrament is in a tabernacle and not a monstrance.

Day of Prayer and Fasting - March 18

March 13 Update

As news of the coronavirus continues to develop, we are staying on top of the information being presented by government officials, public health experts, and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Out of an abundance of caution and recommendations for organizations to do their part for community mitigation, St. Hubert is taking the following steps to keep our community safe, beginning Saturday, March 14.

  • All events and meetings outside of Mass and sacraments are cancelled. We will continue holding our daily and weekend Masses, reconciliation, baptisms, and funerals. Our parish reconciliation service on March 19 is currently on as scheduled. All other parish events, activities, and meetings are cancelled until further notice. Groups that regularly meet at St. Hubert can use discretion on if they would like to continue meeting at a different location.

  • The Blessed Sacrament from the Adoration Chapel will be reposed – adorers no longer have a commitment to their hour, however, the chapel will be open for personal prayer.

  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word will not be offered for the remainder of the school year.

  • Due to the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19/coronavirus cases in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Archbishop Hebda has determined it prudent to dispense all Catholics in the territory of this Archdiocese from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, until further notice. If the faithful decide that congregating for Sunday Mass would constitute a risk to themselves or others, they have the freedom not to attend. Masses, however, will continue to be celebrated in our parishes as regularly scheduled at this time.

  • In the case you are unable to attend Mass, the 5:15 PM Saturday Anticipatory Mass is recorded and aired on Relevant Radio™ 1330AM in the Twin Cities every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM Listen online at www.relevantradio.com. Mass and homily recordings are posted on the homepage on Mondays.

  • St. Hubert homilies are posted on Mondays for you to listen to at your convenience. Visit sthubert.org/homilies.

  • We strongly encourage you to stay home if you feel sick or have flu-like symptoms. Please call the office during the business day, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, at 952-934-9106 to request a priest to come to offer Confession and/or the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick if you are seriously ill (or, after hours, call the parish emergency phone at 952-261-7437).

  • We have suspended the pre-Mass shaking of hands and the Sign of Peace.

  • We have suspended distributing Holy Communion from the Chalice. One Chalice will be available only for those who cannot receive the Precious Body (e.g. those with gluten intolerance).

  • We ask you to refrain from hand-holding during the Our Father.

  • Hand sanitizer is available in the narthex near the doors to the church, the parish front desk, the Adoration chapel, and the school office desk for general use.

  • The water in our holy water font has been drained. We will use fresh water for any baptisms during this time. If you desire holy water for your personal use, please bring a holy water bottle to one of our priests and ask him to bless it.

Due to the growing concern and rapidly changing developments of the coronavirus, St. Hubert will share communications as needed through Flocknote and this page of our website.

Thank you for your prayers and patience during this time.

March 12 Pastor Update

Dear Parishioners,

On March 7, Archbishop Hebda issued particular guidelines for our Archdiocese in response to the spread of the coronavirus. Following his direction, along with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) we are taking the following precautions at St. Hubert:

  • Due to the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19/coronavirus cases in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Archbishop Hebda has determined it prudent to dispense all Catholics in the territory of this Archdiocese from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, until further notice. If the faithful decide that congregating for Sunday Mass would constitute a risk to themselves or others, they have the freedom not to attend. Masses, however, will continue to be celebrated in our parishes as regularly scheduled at this time.

  • All participating in our programs will be reminded of preventative actions and proper habits to prevent the spread of germs.

In addition to these new practices, we want to remind you of the ways that we already strive to minimize the impact of the spread of harmful bacteria or viruses at St. Hubert.

  • Our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion wash their hands before and following distribution of the Eucharist, and will be reminded of the proper way to do this.

  • Our Homebound Ministers regularly bring hand sanitizer with them as they visit our parishioners, and will also bring any sanitary items they need (gloves, masks, etc.). If a facility (e.g. Summerwood) changes their visitor policy, we follow that policy.

  • All vessels used at Mass are washed in soap and hot water following every Mass.

  • Our maintenance staff regularly cleans all restrooms, especially in the school and high traffic areas.

Please note that this situation is evolving rapidly, and we will continue to update our website and through Flocknote as additional decisions are made and changes in policy occur. If you do not yet receive Flocknote messages, text Hubert to 84576 or go to flocknote.com/sthubert and follow the prompts to sign up.

We pray for all those affected by the coronavirus and all other illnesses, that they will receive these gifts from Our Lord. We pray for all those who care for the sick, and for those seeking ways to prevent and cure this particular illness. We look with confidence to Jesus, our Divine Physician, to graciously grant His peace in our days, that, by the help of His mercy, we will be safe from all distress, and bring the strength and hope that we receive in Jesus to those most in need around us.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Tollefson
